Kausani is located at a height of 1890 meters in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand. Because of its exceptional natural splendor, Mahatma Gandhi named Kausani as the “Switzerland of India”.

Kausani is a land of lush green hill station with spellbinding snow clad Himalayan view, silent valleys and bubbling creeks, song of birds and the towering coniferous trees. The peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Panchachuli are distinctly visible from Kausani.

Kausani is the birthplace of famous Hindi poet Sumitra Nandan Pant, who wrote some of his memorable poems in praise of this paradise on earth. In 1929, Mahatma Gandhi stayed here for 14 days at the Anasakti Ashram while scripting his book titled 'Anasakti Yoga' and was greatly impressed by its environs.

The town is accessible all year round. For those who wish to avoid the cold, the best season is between April to June and again between September to November. Summer months will require light woollen clothing and winter- heavy woollen clothes.

By Train

Kathgodam is the nearest railway station to Kausani situated at a distance of 132kms. Kathgodam is well connected by Railway networks with major destinations of Indai like Lucknow, delhi,and kolkatta.

By Road

Kausani is well connected with major towns of Kumaon region as well as Garhwal regions. Taxis to kausani are easily available from major destinations of Uttarakhand state.
