Shirdi is a town located in the Ahmednagar district of the state of Maharashtra and is at a distance of 296 kms from Mumbai, the state capital.

Shirdi Sai Baba temple outshine many pilgrimage destinations as countless people throng to visit this place from all over India. That is the point where Shirdi scores over different other pilgrimage destinations.

 One of the most illustrious spiritual leader of India, Sai Baba stayed here and made this humble town to sought after holy destination for many.

Sai Baba was believed to be the incarnation of god. Dressed like a fakir (beggar) who preached the true meaning of god, believed in all religions and lived an ordinary life.

It is said that he developed some miraculous power in the very young age and used it to cure the diseases and afflictions of many. The incidents spread over to many place and soon Sai Baba was a popular figure. Amazingly he had a followers from all section of society

 The same platform were shared by rich and poor, he was worshiped as a god and the temple was built where he achieved enlightenment.

Temple is far cry from exquisite architecture or magnificence but people come here to to witness the magnetic effect of Sai Baba. It is widely believed that if you wish with a true feeling, Sai Baba will fulfill it.

 The main samadhi is surrounded by marble railing, there are also silver pillars guarding the samadhi. The pillars are beautifully decorated with flowers. Every evening at 6:30, the aarti is noteworthy one when people gather around the temple, lots of lamps are lighted and the whole temple is decorated with flowers.

 The whole of temple is converted into a festive mood. The Sai Baba is more of a fatherly figure than a god to his devotees. After the aarti the deity of Sai Baba is wrapped with a blanket in winters and summer he is covered with net to avoid mosquito.

Such treatment only confirms that he is still living in the heart of people and how much people adore him. At the end of each session of aarti, the sacred ash and offerings are distributed to devotees. The atmosphere inspire a spiritual calmness and must see once in a life.

The nearest airport to Shirdi is the Aurangabad Airport which is 130 kilometres away from Shridi. The airport is well-connected to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. You can board a taxi or a cab or a bus to reach Shirdi from Aurangabad.

By Train

Kopergaon Railway Station, 16 kilometres away, is the nearest railway station to Shirdi. Kopergaon is well-connected to major cities of India through rail. State run buses, cabs, taxis and private buses are available from the station for Shirdi.

By Bus

Maharashtra State Transport buses are available from major cities like Nashik, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Pune and Kopargaon to Shirdi. Private air-conditioned buses also ply from various cities of Maharashtra to Shirdi.

One of the most spectacular monuments of India, Golkonda fort is located 11kms west of Hyderabad.  This historic fort derives its name from the Telugu word “Golla Konda” which means Shepherd’s hill.

 The fort stands on a 400 ft high hill and was initially built by the Kakatiya dynasty in the twelfth century.The Golkonda fort is divided into four distinct forts. The exceptional architecture still shines through in each of the apartments, halls, temples, mosques and even the stables.

The important structures inside the fort are the striking Silai Khana, a three-storied armory building, Nagina Bagh, guide lines, Akkanna-Madanna Offices, Ramdas jail, Darbar hall and a Masjib founded by Ibrahim Qutub Shah. Moreover, the fort also has an ingeniously evolved water supply system.

Apart from its impressive exterior, there are quite a few attractions within the fort. One of the most impressive features of this fort is its acoustics system. By means of this system, a hand clap sounded at the fort’s main gate, the grand portico, can be heard clearly at the ‘Bala Hissar’, the highest point a kilometer away.

The Golconda fort has 10 km long outer wall with 87 semicircular bastions, eight gateways and four drawbridges. The entrance by ‘Fateh Darwaza’.
 The whole Golconda fort is spread in 11 km of total area and a visit to the whole fort provides you the architect beauty in many of the walls, pavilions, entrances and domes.

 Its divided into four district forts and the present gardens of the fort has lost its fragrance for which they were known 400 years ago. The main entrance of the fort is located on the eastern side through Bala Hissar Gate. The gate is decorated with roundels, yalis, peacocks and lions designs which is a blend of Hindu -Muslim architecture.

Its said that there is a secret tunnel built underground which leads to foot of the hill from the ‘Durbar Hall’ and also there is a secret tunnel which leads you til Charminar. This fort also has the tombs of Qutub Shahi kings.

The Golconda fort is open from 9.30 AM to 4.30 PM on all the days except Friday’s.

 The entry fees per head is Rs 5 per head and foreign tourists the fees is Rs 100 per head.

 A charge of Rs 25 is taken extra for videos inside the fort.

 There is a popular Sound & Light show held in English daily at 7 PM which depicts the glory of Golconda Fort.

 The voice of this show is provided by Amitabh Bachchan.

 Telugu version of it is played on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with Hindi versions on Tuesday, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Located around 11 km from the city the fort is easily accessible by all modes of local transport.

 Kerala state is always famous for snake boat races. This is main attraction of tourism in our state. The boat festival season in our God's own country begins with Champakulam Boat race. This is one of the most popular boat races in our state that attracts tourists from different parts of the world.

Champakulam Boat Race Alappuzha is one of the oldest sports festivals held on the river Pamba. History supports that this heritage boat festival had started from middle of 16th Century.
Now this has become a yearly event and is held on the month of June in the daytime. According to record the event was initiated in the year 1545. Till date this Champakulam Boat at Alappuzha starts the beginning of the boat race season in Kerala.
 As a leading event as well as for its grandeur, the boat is extremely famous and pulls thousands of tourists for watching the race live.
Originally, the boat race was called Champakkulam Moolam Vallam Kali. Presently, the race is organized on the Malayalam month midhunam on moolam day.
Presently the race is organized by Champakulam boat race society headed by district collector. Different categories of boats are used for taking part in this boat race.
 Some of the most known boat categories are chundan (snake boat), veppu, iruttu kuthi, churulan. Among all these categories, chundan (snake boat) are found most decorated and grab spectators’ attention.
It is said that the Raja of Chempakasseri, Pooradam Thirunal Devanarayanan, constructed a temple at Ambalappuzha as recommended by the regal astrologers, but just before the consecration of the deity (Lord Krishna) he was informed that the idol was not auspicious.
The king arranged an idol and the day when the idol was consecrated started the convention of Champakulam Boat Race Alappuzha.
Now this boat race is celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur. People from all Conners of Kerala come to watch this spectacular event. Venturous spirited spectators mostly confirm a better watching point by climbing the nearby trees around the river.
A sum total of 19 boats are mostly found offering participation under various categories for the race. The event also includes exotic water floats, boats ornamented with colorful parasols, and several performing artists.
