Kerala Tourism Impresses at ITB Asia





Kerala Tourism made its presence felt at the ninth edition of ITB-Asia (Internationale Tourismus-Börse Asia) held at Singapore and showcased its products and services. ITB Asia is an annually held three day B2B trade show and convention for the travel industry; it is designed to become the primary event for the Asia Pacific travel industry, much like its parent event – ITB Berlin.


This is the third time Kerala has participated at ITB Asia. The Kerala pavilion was setup with multiple themes including the Backwaters of Kerala, Ayurveda and Culture which depicted the heritage of the state. Mr. D. Balamurali IAS, Additional Director (General), Kerala Tourism participated in the event considered to be one among Asia’s leading travel trade shows. The event was held at Marina Bay Sands from 19th to 21st October 2016.

Jim Corbett National Park is one of the most celebreated wildlife reserve in India. This park is spread in Nainital, Pauri and Almora district of Uttarakhand State of India. Corbett National Park is an amazing blend of high hills, swamp, River side belts and green meadows covering an area of 522 kilometers at the foot hills of the greate himalayas and this makes the park a heaven for wildlife adventures lovers.

This park is famous for variety of rare flora, wild animals, reptiles and birds species. A pathway adorn with mango orchards leads one into a complete different world housing a record number of 488 different species of plants and 580 birds type. Moreover a plethora of 25 reptile species and 50 species of mammals are reasons enough to go personal with this wonderland. Visitors are allowed May to June to visit Corbett National Park.

Corbett Park is one of the oldest National Park in Asia with over 1,300 sq kms of forests. A paradise for animal lovers, the park is enveloped with riches of amazing structures of hills and grasslands and various flora and fauna. It’s far from 300 Kms to Delhi.

The park is famous for his perfect habitat for the tiger, elephant, hog deer and 600 odd species of birds out of the total 1200 species found in the world makes it a perfect destination for bird–watchers. This is the perfect viewing forest with open gypsy and Elephant safari and is one of the must visit destinations in India.Jim Corbett National Park in the foothills of the Kumaon Himalaya is one of the refreshing and thrilling winter escapes in North India.

Corbett National Park follows strict rules and regulations. All visitors are expected to stand by the norms and write to keep the national park evergreen with its wildlife and flora. Tourists cannot enter their own vehicles into the park. Visitors must use a taxi number jeep to enjoy Jeep Safari inside the park. Permit for those jeeps are issued by Corbett Tiger Reserve. Visitors must hire an authorised wildlife guide during their travel. There is no fuel station beyond Ramnagar. So should refuel you vehicles before entering the park.

Trekking is strictly prohibited inside the park except at some fix places. Specific tracks are maintained for visitors to enjoy the photography and some refreshments. Driving off track is not allowed for safety reason. The gates are closed at sunset and no night driving is allowed.

Avoid light colours such as white, pink, red, yellow and blue. You should wear dark shaded cloths such as brown and green shaded cloths are best suitable to make chance see animals and less disturbing to the environment.

The months of November through June are the perfect time to visit Corbett National Park as the park remains open to tourists during these periods only. The park is kept closed as the monsoon season approaches. The main reason for closure of the park during rest of the year is that the roads inside the park get washed away due to rain. The repair work starts after the monsoon and ends only by November till the roads are back in motorable condition.

By Rail


Ramnagar is the only nearest railway station to Jim Corbett National Park. A direct train to Ramnagar runs from Delhi. Alternatively, one can reach up to Haldwani/Kashipur/Kathgodam and come to Ramnagar by road. Taxis are easily available from these stations.

 By Road



The small city Ramnagar has a very good road network that connects the different cities of India. Uttarakhand state government buses ply at a short interval of time from Delhi, Moradabad, Haldwani that reaches directly Ramnagar. Corbett is only 15 Kms from Ramnagar town. The surface drive from Delhi to Corbett takes approximate five and half hours. The designated approach routes are:
