Kankaria is the biggest lake of the city and represents a royal history of Ahmedabad. It is located in the southern part of the city in Maninagar area, which is the most populated area of the city.

 The lighting and umpteen number of eating joints, street food available from the thela walas, chai walas, golawalas and what not makes it a popular and an enjoyable place to visit.

This place is very well known for its junk food and at night this place soars up especially in the summer between months on March and June.

The lake is a popular recreation center, surrounded by parks, ‘Bal Vatika’, an aquarium, a boat club, a natural historical museum and a zoo. The local authority has recently done wonderful changes to the surroundings with the whole perimeter blocked for vehicular traffic to make it wholly a walkway for the tourist to enjoy.

Experience India’s first tethered helium christened Ballon Safari, which is a major landmark and attraction of the city of Ahmedabad. Elevating to a height of 350 feet from the ground, you can have a wonderful view of the beautiful Kankaria Lake for a time period of 10 minutes.

This can be attributed to the integrated one system approach of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) backed by the Gujarat Government, which not only reinforced the character of the public place but also turned it into an enriching experience.

The project was taken up and executed in a remarkable span of 2 years by 2008.The toy train is also very popular amongst the tourist, which lets you to travel the whole Kankaria lake circle in the slow-moving train.

At an impressive inauguration ceremony of “Kankariya Carnival”, Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi dedicated a Mini-Train to the Children. He had made an announced,” Today is the birthday of our former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, to mark his birth day, we would identify the Mini-Train as Atal-Express.”

The main railway station is located in Kalupur area. This station falls under the prominent national railway circuit and is connected to all major cities of India. Gujarat has one of the better developed road networks in India. Ahmedabad is well connected with all major cities and towns by road. The Apatanis observe a series of agriculture rites and festival by sacrificing domestic fowls, animals and eggs in different times, starting from the sowing to the harvesting periods for ensuring of bumper yield of crops in the year such as Dree, Tamu, Metri, Chandii and Yahung etc.

 Chandii Tamu rite is performed during the sowing period, Dree during every growing periods of crops and Yahung just before the harvest.

 The literary meaning of 'Dree' is one who borrows or purchases food grains from others in order to meet out the shortage by addition to one's old and new stock of food grains.

The Dree Festival of Arunachal Pradesh is an agricultural festival celebrated by the Apatani tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. The Dree Festival is the biggest festival of the Apatanis and celebrated with zest marked by sacrificial offerings and prayers.

The Dree Festival of Arunachal Pradesh is celebrated on July 5 with the pre-celebration rituals starting from the evening of July 4 every year. The main and the biggest celebration of this festival happens at Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh.

 During the Dree Festival prayers are offered to please the 4 Gods – Tamu, Harniang, Metii, and Danyi to bring in a bountiful harvest season. Fowls, eggs, and animals are sacrificed during this festival as part of the rituals.

The festival is marked by grand ritual and community feasts served with delicious rice/millet beer. Traditional songs and dances are also displayed as part of the Dree celebrations. The day long festival is also an occasion where womenfolk brew wine and visit homes of their relatives and present them the wine as a symbol of love and affection.

The Dree Festival of Arunachal Pradesh is a celebration of the agricultural way of life for the Apatanis.
