Rajwada Palace – It Stands Splendidly After Burning Three Times In Past Period

RAJWADA PALACE

AT

INDORE

Rajwada palace is a popular tourist spot inside Indore city of Madhya Pradesh state. Rajwada is the historical palace of the Holkars. It was built about two centuries ago and is located near the Chhatris in the main square.

It is a seven storied structure, which serves as the living example of the grandeur of the Holkars. Rajwada stands in the centre of the city. The new palace is on the northern side, while the old palace stands in the old part of the town.

The old palace is a multi-storied building which also serves as a gateway of the Rajwada. It stands amongst the crowded streets of the Kajuri Bazar and faces the main square of the city.

The palace was once the centre of all the trading activities in the city. It is a blend of Maratha, Mughal and French style of architecture. The entrance of the palace has a lofty archway with a giant wooden door which is covered with iron studs.

The gopura-like monument is made up of wood and stone. It has a number of balconies windows and corridors. The entrance leads to a huge courtyard, which is surrounded by galleried rooms and the arcaded Ganesha hall, which was once the venue of all state and religious functions. This hall is now used for art exhibitions and classical music concerts.

It is in western part of Madhya Pradesh. While going for Indore local sightseeing you will observe that it is one of the oldest historical structure in the city. It was built in 1747 A.D. by founder of Holkar dynasty -Malhar Rao Holkar.

Malhar Rao Holkar used Rajwada as his residence and stayed here till 1880 A.D. This remarkable mammoth 7 storied palace stands in the heart of the busiest part (Khajuri Bazaar) of the town.

It is also close to the Chhatris. After independence Indore city expanded with development of new areas. Now a days it is considered as old Indore. Facing it is a garden with a statue of the great Queen Ahilya Bai.

The face that enclose the gateway of the palace gives an impression of a rather forbidding wizard`s castle. This remarkable palace serves as an living example of the Grandeur of Holkars dynasty.

Rajwada has been burnt three times in history. The last fire broke out in 1984 and caused the maximum destruction. The lower three floors are made up of stone, while the top floors are made of wood.

This made it very vulnerable to destruction by fire. Now, only the front part of the original structure remains. The palace has recently been renovated, which has managed to bring back the old glory to some extent.

In the rear part of the palace, a beautiful garden has been created. It contains fountains, an artificial waterfall and some magnificent pieces of 11th century sculpture.

HINDOLA MAHAL

AT

DHAR

Hindola Mahal in Mandu is a popular historical monuments and tourist attractions during Mandu sightseeing. Its english translation is "Swinging Palace". It is a "T" shaped building use as open air theater or audience hall. It derives its name from its sloping, buttressed walls. This sloping wall is in 77°angle which gives an impression as if building is swinging.

It is believed to be constructed during rule of Hoshang Shah in year 1425 as Durbar Hall but later modified and added to its current look by Ghiyasuddin Khilji reign in last of 15th century. It is one of the first set of monuments that appears while entering into Mandu, coming from Indore through Delhi Darwaza.

Hindola Mahal is a "T" shaped building where its head is north direction facing.
It is part of royal palace complex which includes other popular buildings like Jahaz Mahal, Tawili Mahal, Munj Talao, Nahar Jharokha etc. In terms of architecture, it is marked different from other Mandu monuments due to its extreme simplicity in style of construction but well-proportioned. It has bordering Munj Talao to the north which is a cluster of ruined monuments.

We can find same kind of architecture in historical buildings in other parts of India like in Fort of Warangal which is located in Andhra Pradesh state in South India and seems to have been designed by same artist.

The Hindola Mahal explores its architectural simplicity with minimal ornamentation and stands out boldly through massive inclined slopes. These elements make the Hindola Mahal a unique example of the Malwa style. In addition, the pointed arches on the building’s interior show how Malwa architecture was inspired by the Delhi styles.

The Architecture of Hindola Mahal is unique with innovative construction and superb technique which invites thousands of tourists every year. It was constructed with sand stone with beautifully carved columns. In the western part of the Hindola Mahal there are few monuments whose identities are not yet unveiled.

Adhiparasakthi Siddar Peedam – Adhiparasakthi Has Incarnated Herself In The Human Being Form

ADHIPARASAKTHI SIDDAR PEEDAM

AT

MELMARUVATHUR

Arulmigu Adhiparasakthi Siddhar Peedam, the Holy Shrine is situated at Melmaruvathur, Tamil Nadu, 92 kms south of Chennai along the NH-45. This place, where the Siddhar Peedam is situated, is being considered as the mostHoly place for the past 2000 years. It is in this place, where21 Siddhars, both men and women, attained Jeeva Samaadhi (leaving the mortal body, but living in astral plane).  These 21 Siddhars belong to various religions.

In these Holy Lands at Melmaruvathur, where the current Siddhar Peedam is consecrated, stood a Neem tree and a huge Snake mound underneath it.  One day, in 1960s, milk began to ooze out from the aforesaid Neem Tree.  Wonderstruck by the miracle, people in the surrounding villages, thinking it to be a Divine Happening, drank the oozing milk.  The milk was delicious though the sap of the Neem tree will always taste bitter.  It served as a miracle-medicine for curing the various diseases of the village people. The people slowly started realizing the Divine Power and Grace of the tree.

On 28th November 1966, there was a violent storm in Tamil Nadu. The Snake mound under the Neem tree was eroded in the heavy rain. The Neem tree (from which the milk oozed out) also got uprooted due to the violent gusty winds. The Swayambu (Swayambu means “self-manifested” or that which is created by its own accord) emerged beneath the uprooted Neem tree.

People then understood the revelation that it was because of the power of The Swayambu, the milk had high medicinal values, and the place became so sacred. The Sanctum Sanctorum of today’s SiddharPeedam is established in this very same place. The Swayambu is situated right in front of the Adhiparasakthi statue.

In 1971, the first Oracle came through His Holiness, The Adigalar and The Power prophesied that, “it’s descending to earth as The Mother and She should be worshipped as the Goddess Adhiparasakthi, and the world would go through a Spiritual Revolution and a New Renaissance would emerge’.

Initially, The Swayambu alone was worshipped for many years. Thereafter, on 25thNovember 1977, the idol of Mother Adhiparasakthi was installed in the Sanctum Sanctorum. Mother Adhiparasakthi instructed the unique form of this idol through Her Oracles.

The idol is one metre tall, seated on a thousand-petal lotus seat, with Her right leg folded and the left leg resting on the lotus petal. The thousand-petal lotus signifies and denotes meditation. She holds the bud of a lotus in Her right hand and the fingers of Her left are folded in a way depicting the Chin Mudra. Her hair is plaited and knotted upwards like a crown.

AKSHARDHAM MANDIR

AT

GANDHI NAGAR

Akshardham is located in Gandhi Nagar District of Gujarat State of India. It is majestic, intricately carved stone structure which stands amid sprawling gardens set in a 23-acre plot at Gandhinagar (Gandhinagar district). It is built in 6000 tonnes of pink sandstone and not a bit of steel has been used.

The temple is 108 ft in height, 240 ft in length and 131 ft in width. A point worth noting is that this modern monument to Hinduism was built as per the injunctions of Vastu Shastra. The monument enshrining the seven foot high, gold-leafed Murti (idol) of Lord Swaminarayan is the focal point of the complex.

The monument stands on 7 sculpted pillars, 210 single-piece stone beams, 57 window grills, M domes, eight ornate zarokhas, etc. The sanctum sanctorum contains the 1.2 tonne gold-plated idol of Lord Swaminarayan, the founder of the sect that bears his name, shown in a sitting posture with his right hand raised in abhay mudra.

He is flanked by Swami Gunatitanand on his right and Swami Gopalanand Swami on his left. Both of them were his disciples. Swami Gunatitanand is called Swaminarayan's Akshardham, the eternal abode. According to the Swaminarayan philosophy whenever Lord Swaminarayan incarnates on this planet he brings with him his Akshardham.

Gunatitan and Swami is also called Aksharbrahma and ranks second in the hierarchy of the Bochasanvasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha which built the Akshardham monument. Inspiring episodes and incidents from the glorious history of Sanatan Dharma are presented in sound and light form for the benefit of the visitors. The show takes the visitors through various facets of Hinduism.

The wisdom of the Vedas, the epics, the Puranas is depicted on a crowded canvas by the exhibition. The visitor comes face to face with personages who have made this land what it is.

It is a perfect mix of modernity and ancient values. Apart from Lord Rama going in search of his kidnapped wife, the visitor can see Shravan- the dutiful son, the Pandavas losing the game of dice in the Hastinapur palace, etc. Besides the visitors can also see Sabari's long wait for Lord Rama and Draupadi's humiliation in the Kauravasabha.

The Hall of Harmony projects world religions side by side. The monument is ringed by aparikrama containing 365 stone pillars. The temple also houses the Akshardham Center for Applied Research in Social Harmony (AARSH) which is a futuristic research center with a rich library, study stations and archives. Access to the library is confined to enlisted scholars.

Dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan and inspired by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, Akshardham complex in Gandhinagar is nothing short of miracle that has been created by the sacrifice of thousands of volunteers who offered their time, and skills in the construction of this beautiful piece of art that is visited by more than two million visitors annually

All in all Akshardham is a unique complex that combines art, architecture, education, research, exhibitions and devotion all under one roof and its creation is a milestone event in the chronicles of Indian history. Time stands in testimony to this great marvel as this great monument of Indian culture is not just a topic of discussion alone but more so of experience.

Omkareshwar Shiv Temple – It Is An Island On The Meeting Of The Rivers Narmada and Kaveri Which Is Shaped As Om

with 0 Comment

OMKARESHWAR SIVA TEMPLE

AT

KHANDWA

Omkareshwar shiva temple is situated in the khandwa district of the state of Madhya pradesh.Omkareshwar is a holy town situated at a distance of 77 km from Indore. It derives its name from the sacred Hindu symbol of Om.

The place is a pilgrimage site, as there are a number of Hindu temples and Jain temples located here. It is basically an island, in the shape of Om, on the confluence of the rivers Narmada and Kaveri. The island is divided into north and south by a deep gully and is linked by a bridge. A boat ride in Narmada River around the island of Omkareshwar is quite enjoyable.

Omkareshwar is considered to be one of the holiest Hindu sites in the nation. This is due to the presence of the Jyotirlingam, one of the twelve in India. Lingam is the symbol of Lord Shiva but the Jyotirlingam is special. Jyotirlingam is called the lingam of light. It is said to derive currents of power from within itself. While, an ordinary lingam is ritually invested with mantra shakti (power invested by chants) by the priests. The Jyotirlingam is enshrined in the Temple of Sri Omkareshwar Mahadeo.

On the banks of river Narmada, there is a huge island on which the fourth of the JyotirLinga “Omkaram Amaleshwar” is situated. This island and the river are shaped like “OM” and that is how it derives its name. It is a natural phenomenon.

The devotees who go round the temple consider themselves blessed because they are doing a Parikrama or Circumambulation of Omkara itself and Darshan of the holy JyotirLinga. The Narmada banks and the island are extremely beautiful.

The beauty of Nature here is seen to be believed. The houses perched on the terraced green, strong mountains, the temple, KotiTeerth located in the waterfalls and valleys like Chakrateerts are some of the places to be seen. One can see very big fish and also crocodiles in these waters.

There are many trees with beautiful creepers all over them. Groups of monkeys live on these trees. There are a variety of birds. The temple towers look bright and shiny in between. The whole atmosphere echoes with the the sound of “Om Namah Shivaya”. It is here that Lord Sankara has taken the forms of “Omkareshwara” and “Amaleshwara”, as JyotirLinga.

Brahma and Vishnu also lived in the same place as Omkar Amaleshwar. That is why on the banks of Narmada Brahmapuri, Vishnupuri and Rudrapuri are built which are known as Tripuri Kshetra. The Amareshwar JyotiraLinga is situated in Rudrapuri.

Omkareshwar temple is the main attraction of the pilgrims. In fact the town owes its very existence to this temple. As to who constructed the temple and when , is all shrouded in mystry.

The sanctum sanctorum containing the Jyotirlinga seems to have been originally a small temple of the old construction style, the dome being made of layers of stone slabs and not of circular cut stones.

As this temple is too close to the precipitously deep bank of the Narmada to the south, the great extension is of new construction style. This is the reason why the sanctum sanctorum and the main deity are neither in the front of the main door nor below the higher conspicuous Shikhar or the tower of later construction.
