Himachal Pradesh is one of the most toured states in India. The state has beautiful pristine snow clad mountains which are a major source of tourist attraction.
 Tourists from all over the world come to this glorious, unpolluted and serene place to nurture their mind and soul and cherish an unfathomable nature's beauty. The word 'Hima' means snow in Sanskrit and hence the name Himachal Pradesh which means 'In the lap of Himalayas'. 
The mountains of the state are used for many adventure sports. One among them that is considerably being carried out here is trekking.
With more than 200 defined trekking trails some of the famous trekking spots of Himachal Mountains are; Hampta Pass trek, Dhaulandhar (Triund Glacier)trek, Parvati valley trek, Bhabha pass trek, Sari Pass trek, Beas Kund trek, trek to Chamba and Pin Parvati, Kakeri lake trek etc.
Hampta pass trek is considered the easiest and convenient of all treks in H.P. It might not be the most adrenalin rush giving or the most sought after trek, but definitely it is a trek that will leave you in awe of this beautiful place.
 The variation in the trails is enormous; scenic landscapes, open green pastures and meadows, glacial valleys, easy access and an exceptional, adventurous and hair raising crossing of the pass makes this trekking expedition to Hampta pass an exciting one.
Generally, it takes 4 days to complete the Hampta pass trek, but one more day is further added to the itinerary so as to visit the well-known and striking Chandrataal, a high altitude alpine lake few hours from Chatru.
 The best months to trek are May and June and August through October. The reason why Hampta pass is famous trekking zone is snow; the pass has lump sum snow which draws more tourists.
The nearest station is Manali. Therefore, the trip starts from Manali to Chika via Jobra. From Jobra the trek is undertaken by walk. This route comprises the first day. Balu ka Ghera is reached on the second day.
 You would cross amazing boulders, Gendrame and Rani Nallah on this day. The third day destination is Shea Goru from Balu ka Ghera via Hampta Pass. You will come across mind boggling and stupendous glaciers, cornice formation and snows all the way along. The maximum altitude will be reached on this day i.e. 14, 100 ft. Day four will start from Shea Goru and end up in Chatru.
It is a steady descent on this day. You will witness the valleys of Lahual and Spiti and also the mountain ranges of Pir panjal and Spiti. On the same day you can also head to Chandra tal camp site and camp there for the night.
 The final day of the trek's route is from Chandra tal to Manali. From Chandra tal campsite you can visit the infamous chandratal lake, deepest amongst blue shades.
One must carry necessary trekking gears like ankle support shoes and trekking poles which will make snow climbing easier.

Day 1: Drive from Manali to Jobra & Trek to Chika   
Day 2: Trek from Chika to Balu-Ka-Gera      
Day 3: Trek from Balu-Ka-Gera to Sheagoru via Hampta Pass     
Day 4: Trek from Sheagoru to Chatru, Drive to Chandratal ( If weather permits ) & Return to Chattru, Camp in Chhatru.     
Day 5: Drive from Chattru to Manali . Drop in Manali by 4 PM Approx.

Hidimbi Devi Temple, also known variously as the Hadimba Temple, is located in Manāli, a hill station in the State of Himāchal Pradesh in north India.

Hadimba Devi Temple is dedicated to the wife of Bhim, one of the five Pandava brothers in the Indian epic Mahabharata. As the legend goes, Bhim married Hadimba and they had a son. Later on, Hadimba left the place and became a spiritual.

The people later erected a temple in her respect, known as Hadimba Temple. The temple is in pagoda style and comprises no idol within, albeit, some footprints are engraved and are worshiped by devotees.

The temple is also known for a fair held every year in Hindi month of Sravan in the memory of Raja Bahadur Singh, who built the temple. The fair is popularly known as Bahadur Singh Re Jatar among locals.

 There is another fair too which is held on 14th May each year in the celebration of birthday of Hadimba Devi. Women around and from Dhungri forest come and celebrates this fair with music and dance.

Inside the temple, there is a 3 inch tall brass image representing goddess Hadimba Devi. There is a shrine which is dedicated to Ghatotkacha (son of Bhima-Hadimba) and is located just about 70 metres from the temple.

The best time to visit the temple is during May when it organises the three day Hidimba Devi Festival. This festival attracts devotees from all over the world and features colourful folk dance performances.

By Air

Bhuntar is the nearest airport from Manali at a distance of 50 km. There is an availability of taxi services as well to Manali from Bhuntar that will cost  nearly Rs 1000 . By air, Bhuntar is well-connected to Delhi. Delhi is the nearest airport that is at a distance of 565 km from Manali. The airport is connected with major cities in India and several cities abroad.

By Rail

Manali is the nearest railway station which is connected to mostly all the stations.

By Road
Manali is connected majorly to all the nearby tourist destinations in Himachal via private bus services. State owned services are available too connecting it to other cities.

Manali is a beautiful destination with plenty to offer, but the climatic conditions make some part of the year win over the others.
The best time to visit Manali is usually between the summer and autumn months from May through October, barring the monsoon season which arrive in July and August when rainfall perpetuates landslides.
The summer months of May and June receive maximum tourist influx in Manali and is a great time for trekking/hiking, paragliding, mountain sports, rafting and zorbing.
The Hadimba Devi Temple also hosts the Hadimba Devi Festival in the month of May, attracting a number of devoted pilgrims to its doors. 

By Air

Manali does not have an airport of its own and the nearest airport is at Bhuntar (KUU Bhuntar Aiport), near Kullu and is 50 kms, and 40 minutes away from Manali. Airlines connecting Manali from Delhi, Mumbai are Kingfisher Airlines and Indian Airlines.

By Train

The nearest railhead to Manali is on the narrow gauge line at Joginder Nagar 95 kms away. The Joginder Nagar Railway Station is well connected to all other Indian cities via Chandigarh.

By Bus


Manali is well connected with direct bus services from all cities of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. the closest distance from some cities is as follows: Kullu is 40 km, Shimla- 257 km, Chandigarh- 288 km, Delhi- 543 km, Pathankot- 299 km and Dharamshala- 217 km.
