Cubbon Park is one of the Major tourist attraction in Bangalore, spreading across 300 acres and houses several historical monuments and buildings inside the park.

The Cubbon Park is situated within the heart of the Bangalore city in the Central Administrative area is named after Sir Mark Cubbon who laid the park.This park of Bangalore spreads an area acres and is quite frequented by both walkers as well as joggers. 

The park houses buildings that are aesthetically designed magnificent statutes of famous personalities and rich flora and fauna. The park is so popular that Bangalore is named Garden City after the park.

The park was originally created in 1870 as Meade’s Park and used to cover an area of 100 acres. Later the park was renamed as Cubbon park in memory of Sir Mark Cubbon, the longest serving commissioner of the time. Future expansions to the park made it measure around 300 acres making it the biggest park in Bangalore.

The famous buildings and monuments inside Cubbon Park are Attara Kacheri, which is now the High Court of Karnataka, Venkatappa Art Gallery, Bal Bhavan which is dedicated to children including a toy train, An Aquarium which is referred as India’s second largest aquarium, Yuvanika which is State Youth Center, YMCA, a Children’s library, Seshadri Iyer Memorial Hall which is now is Central Library and few other clubs.

The Park have hundreds of flower species and around 6000 trees inside the garden with beautiful walking paths for joggers and walkers.

A complete day can be dedicated to Cubbon Park visit to explore the entire park including the visit to the libraries, art gallery, aquarium, clubs. If not, it can be reduced to few hours just to visit fewer parts of the park.

There is also an amusement park for the kids known as Jawahar Bal Bhawan where children can enjoy their Puttani Empress ride along with other games and  exciting activities.
For those who are looking for some moments of peace and solitude in Bangalore, Cubbon  Park  is the  right option.
In the evening, when the fairy fountains are lit, the park attains such a magnificence which makes it cook incredible.
The park is open to the public at all times but the roads around the park are closed from 5:00A.M to 8:00A.M every day to provide more safety and  fresh environment for morning walkers and exercisers.
Cubbon park is  situated near Gandhi Nagar in the Centre Administrative Area of Bangalore, Karnataka. It is quite accessible from Hudson Circle MG road and  Ambedkar Veedhi.

Day 01

Day 02

The highlights of second day are: Soochipara Waterfalls (a scenic waterfall near to Meppady, with almost 1 Km trekking, get below the falls if you desire). Lakkidi view point (amazing view of the valley from the top of ghat section, measuring height of 700 meters above mean sea level), Chain Tree (the places is near Lakkidi with a mythical/historical story behind the name), Pookot Lake (very close to highway near Vythiri resort , a natural fresh water lake at an altitude of about 800 meter from sea level, with track around the lake, perfect place for unwinding with boating facilities). Evening, return to the hotel.

Day 03

First thing in the morning, travel to Muthanga Wild Life Sanctuary (Arrive at 0600-0630 for Jungle safari by Jeep at 0700h). Come back to the hotel and after breakfast, check out from hotel and move for further sightseeing. Remaining day visit, Banasura Sagar Dam near Pinangode  followed by departure transfer to Calicut Airport/Railway station.

This palace was built in 1892 by Imam Sultan Muhammad Shah Agakhan III. He was elected as the President of the League of Nations in 1938 and was well renowned in the field of politics and sports. 

The palace was later donated to India by Aga Khan IV in 1969 as a mark of respect to Gandhiji and his philosophy.

The Agakhan Palace Pune is a national monument of India’s freedom movement. Following the launch of Quit India movement in 1942, Gandhiji, his wife Kasturba, his secretary Mahadevbhai Desai were interned at the palace from August 9, 1942 to May 6, 1944. 

Mahadevbhai and Kasturba passed away while in captivity at the Agakhan palace and their samadhis are located in the campus.Situated near the River Mula, the palace is a simple memorial to Gandhi and his life.

The palace has developed into a national and international place of pilgrimage with over a lakh of visitors every year who come to pay homage to the samadhis here. The palace is surrounded by a sprawling garden. The famous movie 'Gandhi' was shot here.

The main palace now houses the Gandhi National Memorial where you can peek into the room where the Mahatma used to stay. Photos and paintings exhibit moments in his extraordinary life.
Both Kasturba Gandhi, the Mahatma’s wife, and Mahadeobhai Desai, his secretary for 35 years, died here in confinement. You’ll find their shrines (containing their ashes) in a quiet garden to the rear.

Virundavan Celebrates Lord Krishan's Birthday On 25th August

Temples in Vrindavan are all set to celebrate Janmasthami, Lord Krishna’s birthday, on August 25. Devotees are busy preparing for the festival which is one of the grandest in the area. According to temple priests, there is an exquisite charm in Vrindavan during this time of the year, when preparations for Janmashtami are on in full swing.
Vrindavan, located 15 kilometers away from Mathura, has hundreds of temples dedicated to Lord Krishna. Dwarkadhish Temple, one of the oldest temples in Vrindavan, is a hub of activity as workers decorate the temple and prepare for the big day.
“We started preparations 10 days in advance, since everything needs to be perfect. We estimate a footfall of over 2.5 lakh on Janmashtami. Hotels are fully booked and we have gathered a large number of volunteers to help out in the preparations as well,” said Hirendra Kumar Pushkar, member of managing committee at the Dwarkadhish Temple.
Meanwhile at Vrindavan Chandrodaya temple, devotees are busy with the arrangements.
“They are planning different services for the deities starting from the early morning arati, dressing and adornment, the jhulanseva, the bhoga offerings, the palki processions and abhishekam arrangements. The best halwais (cooks) of Delhi, Mathura and Agra have been roped in to prepare the best prasad to be offered to Lord Krishna,” said Sri Suvyakta Narasimha Dasa, senior vice-president of Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir.
The special attraction at the temple will be a silver jhula (swing) in which the deities of Radha and Krishna will be gently swung after midnight arati.
“It will be a grand celebration indeed. Nava Poshak (new dress) and sringar darshan will be held in the morning at 7:15 AM on August 25. Guru Puja will follow this and then the deities will be offered a feast of 56 different kinds of sweets and savories. Then the festival deities will be brought to a beautifully decorated swing for the day-long Jhulan Seva in the temple hall. The Sankirtana team will sing melodious bhajans and kirtans throughout as well,” he said.
Two abhishekam ceremonies have been planned this year – one at 6pm and another at 10 pm.
Various cultural events are planned at the Banke Bihari temple, one of the most renowned temples in Vrindavan.
“Professional artists have been called to give their best performance on the festive season, so that they are showered with the blessings of Lord Krishna. Excerpts from the story of Janmashtami are depicted in the dramas, which are being conducted since August 16 and will go on till August 26 evening,” said Swami Anand Goswami, a priest at Banke Bihari Temple.
