Haryana virtually the 'green' state Haryana surrounds Delhi on almost three sides. The beautiful lakes, picturesque landscaping, golf courses, tennis and billiards comprise of the different recreational facilities in Haryana. Haryana is primarily an agricultural state with some major industrial areas being developed by the government of India. A range of adventure sports like canoeing & kayaking, trekking & rock climbing, camping and river rafting are there for the tourists. The state of Haryana is ideal for cultural and pilgrim tourism. Haryana was made into a state on 1st November 1966. There is a very good network of canals throughout the state, giving it the much-needed impetus for agriculture, the mainstay of Haryana's economy
